What is Juppie?!

After writing a successful proposal about traveling in south East Asia through a young person’s perspective, I was awarded a travel Scholarship by the University of East London (UEL)
in early 2008.

My original project proposal, that I devised myself, was to travel to South East Asia mainly Malaysia, but I luckily managed to go to Singapore, Thailand, Melbourne and Japan as well. The proposal included creating and producing an online mixed media blog/magazine issue, which would be available as a PDF version of the destinations I visited.

‘Juppie’ is chosen title of the magazine and is about my travel adventures and experiences of other cultures, cities and south East Asian youth and student life. I got to meet and interview interesting young, talented, creative people.
Juppie covers a huge variety of subjects; my journey, and epic adventure, youth, economy, society, religion, law, weather, wildlife, food, fashion, nightlife, travel, the bizarre, environment, sport, places of interest, art and music.
As I had never been to any of these places before and initially would be traveling on my own, I decided on using universities in South East Asia, Melbourne and Japan that are linked to UEL, as my base.
When I left on the 12th August 2008, I only had a return ticket from Kuala Lumpur to come back on the 29th September. Every other detail of my trip was then pretty much unplanned…

I hope you enjoy finding out what I have been up to…
